Bojnice Castle was first mentioned in written records in 1113, in a document held at the Zobor Abbey. Originally built as a wooden fort, it was gradually replaced by stone, with the outer walls being shaped according to the uneven rocky terrain.
The most famous noble families owned the castle and the last of them was the family of Pálfi. The part of the tour is a visit of stalactite cave under the castle, reconnected with 26 m deep castle well. More than 700 years old tree, so-called King´s Matej linden of Bojnice, grows in front of the castle gates. The perimeter of this tree is 12 m. Under this tree, King Matej Corvinus organized big feasts and meetings.
