In this cycling tour you can easily get to the Austrian National Park of Dunajské luhy via a very nice bicycle route.
This cycling tour starts under the SNP bridge and we continue toward the Slovak-Austrian frontier area up to the town Hainburg an der Donau. The road is asphalt, and mostly away from traffic. In Hainburg, you will head to the Danube riverbank, and the rest of the tour we will ride our bicycles along the Danube dike up to a bridge across the Danube river.
You’ll cross the river and ride along the dike that takes us into the flood-plain forests. You will see beautiful natural scenery and moors in the flooded forest located directly in the National Park of Dunajské luhy. The gravel track gives way to asphalt again, and this forest road leads us to the English park at Eckartsau Castle.
You should take the same route back to Bratislava. If this isn’t quite enough for you, you can extend the tour by visiting Schlosshof Castle.
Total length: 54 km. Total ascent: 198 m. Difficulty level: 2 out of 5
