This national park is the first and oldest NP found in Slovakia in 1949. It is situated in North of Slovakia and is shared with Poland. Many people call these Carpathian Mountains as “smallest alpine mountains in Europe”. The highest peak of Slovakia is Gerlachovský štít (2655MASL).
The High Tatras are truly unique as one can enjoy magical silence in the valleys as well as maximum relaxation between waterfalls, alpine meadows and more than 100 lakes.
First day in the morning, we’ll head straight into the High Tatras mountains. This oldest national park in Slovakia has been named as the best place to visit in Europe in 2019. There you can spot the brown bear – a rare creature indeed in Europe. But not only. Many chamois you can see often on your trek.
We’ll take an easy hikes also with a cableway, breathtaking views, waterfalls and mountain lakes, ideal for families.
Departure is from Bratislava during a day. Transfer from Vienna is available on request.
We’ll arrive to the High Tatras in the afternoon. This day we can just walk around the lake and take a rest before tomorrow’s first tour.
We’ll start in mountain village Štrbské Pleso and we will continue further approximately 3 hours up to the biggest and the deepest mountain lake in High Tatras, called Veľké Hincovo pleso.
From the lake, we need to ascend by serpentines up to Vyšné Kôprovské sedlo, and from there to the peak of Kôprovský štít. The view there offers unusual and real scenery of High Tatras. It is definitely worth to visit this place!
Duration: approximately 6-8 hours in total
Difficulty level: moderately difficult. Recommended for moderately-skilled or skilled tourists.
Alternative route: for hikers we offer alternative tour during winter time to the valleys and visit some huts.
From 1st of November till 14th of June ascent to the peaks is forbidden.
From Štrbské pleso village, we’ll go to Mlynická dolina. Peaceful place inside the forest, it is a very nice hike. Just in 2 hours of slow and easy walk we’ll come to the waterfall Skok.
We can continue up to the waterfall and there we’ll see other lakes and wonderful scenery.
Route and duration: Štrbské pleso – Skok waterfall and back: approximately 4 hours.
The hike starts in small village Podlesok, where we will enter the woods after a short walk. During the whole hike, the tourist pathway leads along the stream. In narrow places, there are wooden footbridges and also some ladders. You will see many waterfalls. After the rain and in the beginning of spring, the level of water in streams is higher and the pathway is sometimes full of muddy sections, and rocks can be possibly slippery; therefore, it is necessary to wear high waterproof trekking boots with Vibram sole.
You will surely enjoy one of the most popular canyons with ladders and waterfalls!
This canyon is one of the most visited; that’s why we don’t recommend hiking here in the period of summer holidays – July and August. On the other hand, the most beautiful hikes can be carried out in April and May, and during autumn. If you have a good stamina and physical condition, we recommend visiting this gorge in winter as well.
Duration: approximately 4-5 hours
Altitude difference: 510 m
Difficulty level: Moderately difficult hike with some sections equipped with ladders, chains and footbridges.
After breakfast we can leave High Tatras and we’ll arrive to Bratislava/Vienna late afternoon.
Transfer from/to Vienna instead of Bratislava is available upon request at a charge.
